Facilities Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Engineer to support operations at our biotech site. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all facility systems, including HVAC, process utilities, and building automation systems, in both GMP and non-GMP environments.
The Facilities Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, and Validation to support daily operations, preventative maintenance, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility systems including:
- HVAC, chillers, air handlers
- Process utilities such as waste systems, domestic water, compressed gases, and electrical distribution
- Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
- Ensure all systems remain in compliance with cGMP, FDA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Support environmental monitoring systems, cold storage units (2–8°C, -20°C, -80°C), and critical alarms.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and execute facility-related projects and improvements.
- Participate in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for new equipment and systems.
- Develop and review SOPs, preventive maintenance plans, and engineering documentation.
- Support inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Provide on-call and off-hours support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 7 years of facilities or engineering experience in a regulated biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment.
- Strong understanding of GMP regulations, cleanroom classifications, and facility validation requirements.
- Experience with BAS/BMS, CMMS, and automated alarm or monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC, chilled water systems, and general building infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting biotech manufacturing or R&D lab environments.
- Training in EHS procedures and working knowledge of FDA, EMA, or ICH guidelines.
